Why Do People Say "Too Much Wealth Makes a Weak Body"? Understanding "Resource" and "Wealth" in Bazi
1. Indirect Resource (偏印): The Unconventional Skill Master
While Direct Resource represents a nurturing birth mother, Indirect Resource (Pian Yin) is like an adoptive mother or stepmother.
• The Logic: Elements that produce "Me", but with the same polarity (e.g., Yang Water producing Yang Wood).
• Personality: Unlike the gentle Direct Resource, people with Indirect Resource have quirky ideas and razor-sharp minds. They naturally excel in unconventional fields like metaphysics, religion, psychology, and the arts. They dislike following rules and are often seen as eccentric visionaries.
• Key Difference: Direct Resource gives you warmth and standard education; Indirect Resource gives you specialized skills and out-of-the-box wisdom.
• Drawbacks: They tend to overthink, hesitate, and lack patience. However, their keen observation allows them to read people in an instant, making them top-tier talents for metaphysics and astrology.
2. Direct Wealth (正财): The Steady & Disciplined Financial Mind
• The Logic: Elements that "I" control, with opposite polarity (e.g., Yang Wood controlling Yin Earth). It represents fixed salary, stable income, and a husband's lawful wife.
• Personality: Grounded, frugal, honest, and pragmatic. They dislike taking risks and prefer building wealth step-by-step. They make the ultimate CFOs
• Drawbacks: Can be overly conservative, emotionally distant, or so focused on money that they forget to enjoy life. Men with dominant Direct Wealth often prefer older partners.
Why "Too Much Wealth Makes a Weak Body" (财多身子弱)? In Bazi, controlling Wealth takes energy from your core element (Day Master). When there is too much Wealth in a chart, your personal energy becomes heavily depleted, creating a "Weak Body" state. This shows up in three main ways:
1. Health Burnout: Working so hard to make money that you ruin your health, eventually spending all your earnings on medical bills.
2. Indulgence: Since Wealth represents women for men, having too much of it can lead to overindulgence, harming physical well-being.
3. Asset Rich, Cash Poor: Looking wealthy on the outside (e.g., living in an inherited mansion), but the assets aren't liquid or truly yours.
3. Indirect Wealth (偏财): The Generous Business Genius
• The Logic: Elements that "I" control, with the same polarity (e.g., Yang Wood controlling Yang Earth). Unlike Direct Wealth (fixed salary), Indirect Wealth represents variable, large-scale gains.
• Personality: Sharp business instinct with no interest in small change—they play for high stakes. Excellent networkers, generous, charismatic, and born entrepreneurs.
• Drawbacks: Easy come, easy go. They tend to spend lavishly, believing money spent can always be earned back (so ask them if you need to borrow money!). In romance, Indirect Wealth represents mistresses or lovers. Their charm and humor naturally attract romantic attention, often leading to colorful love lives.
They live by the motto "Work smart, play hard." In fact, the phrase "Too Much Wealth Makes a Weak Body" often applies even more accurately to them due to heavy socializing and exhaustion.
