Whenever people talk about Feng Shui, they often think about facing directions, entrances, wealth corners and Feng Shui ornaments.
But one of the most basic — and often overlooked — principles of Feng Shui is simply:
Cleanliness.
Feng Shui is fundamentally about the flow of Qi, or energy.
When a place is constantly filled with rubbish, clutter and dirt, with poor ventilation and blocked spaces, the flow of Qi is naturally affected.
This is especially important in areas such as the main entrance, living room, kitchen and toilet. Keeping these spaces clean, tidy and well ventilated is not only about appearance and comfort — it also helps create a healthier and more harmonious environment.
Some people spend a lot of money buying Feng Shui items to attract wealth, but overlook something much more fundamental:
If the environment itself is not clean, how can we expect to talk about attracting and accumulating good Qi and wealth?
That is why I always believe:
Feng Shui does not always begin with spending money. Sometimes, it begins with cleaning.
Remove what you no longer need. Clear the clutter. Keep your surroundings clean and allow the space to breathe.
When the environment becomes clear, the flow of Qi can become clearer too.
Good Feng Shui begins with a clean environment.
